Why teams use Groundbook

What your program gains

01

The same exam room everywhere

Every set is checked against your room data sheets and design standards, whichever firm designed the clinic.

02

Imaging and medical gas that fit

Vendor equipment drawings and shielding reports are checked against structure, power, cooling, and wall types before the equipment arrives.

03

Renovations that keep patients safe

Phasing, temporary barriers, and pressure relationships are checked before work starts next to occupied clinical space.

AI plan review for health system facilities is a first-pass check of each outpatient project's drawings against each other, the specifications, your design standards and room data, and the building code where it is built. Groundbook returns possible conflicts and missing information with links to the exact sheets, so facility planners, the architect and engineers of record, and the contractor can resolve them before permit and the health facility review.

How it gets there

Common checks for health systems and outpatient networks

Each row is a place where the documents for one site often disagree. The review compares them and returns each possible conflict with the sheets it came from.

AreaWhat is comparedA question a finding raises
Room standardsExam, procedure, and support rooms against room data sheets and system design standardsDoes exam room 112 have the handwashing sink, power, and data that the system's standard exam room requires?
Medical gasMedical gas outlets on the architectural and equipment plans against the medical gas piping, zone valves, and alarm panelsDoes the medical gas plan show the oxygen and vacuum outlets that the procedure room elevations call for?
Imaging roomsImaging room layout and vendor equipment drawings against the shielding report, structure, power, and coolingDo the wall types around the CT room carry the lead lining that the shielding report specifies?
Healthcare guidelines and ventilationRoom sizes, clearances, and pressure relationships against the FGI Guidelines when you upload a licensed copy, and state health facility requirementsIs the airborne infection isolation room shown with negative pressure and dedicated exhaust on the mechanical plan?
Infection control and phasingRenovation phasing, temporary barriers, and pressure notes against the occupied areas on the existing plansDo the phasing sheets show temporary barriers and negative pressure for the work area next to the open waiting room?
Life safety and accessibilityOccupancy separations, exits, and accessible exam rooms and toilets against the building and accessibility codesDo the rated walls around the ambulatory surgery suite on the life safety plan carry the same rating in the architectural wall types?

Where Groundbook fits

01

Load your design standards

Upload room data sheets, design standards, and your project checklist. Every new clinic and renovation is reviewed against them.

02

Review at each milestone

Run a review at design development and before permit. Findings return in 20 minutes to 24 hours, each linked to its sheet.

03

Check equipment against the base set

Add vendor equipment drawings and the shielding report as references, and see where the building does not match them.

04

Route to the design team

Assign findings to the architect or engineer of record, comment, and export a report or marked-up drawings for the next issue.

Questions, answered

What program teams ask

Can Groundbook check sets against the FGI Guidelines?

Groundbook reads the building codes governments publish online. The FGI Guidelines are licensed, so upload a copy your license allows you to use, along with your system design standards, and the review checks the drawings against them.

Does it work for California outpatient projects under HCAI?

Yes. Upload the set with the code volumes and checklists that apply. The HCAI plan review guide linked on this page explains when HCAI reviews an OSHPD 3 clinic and when the local building official does.

How is pricing set for a program with many sites?

Programs reviewing 500 or more projects a year get volume pricing. Smaller programs can buy prepaid credits for up to 15% off. Every review shows its exact price before you pay, and the first project is free.

Does Groundbook replace the architect of record or plan check?

No. Groundbook surfaces possible issues with links to their sources. The architects and engineers of record, your own team, and the authority having jurisdiction remain responsible for every decision.

Where is our project data stored?

On AWS in the United States by default, or on-prem for programs that need it, encrypted at rest and in transit. Project data is never used to train models and is visible only to the people you invite. SSO and MFA, an NDA, and security questionnaires are available on request.
