Each connection acts as your account, with exactly your permissions. Connecting an assistant takes about two minutes and needs no technical skills. The command line and API are for developers.

One MCP server and one REST API sit behind every surface. MCP is the standard assistants use to connect to tools. Our server at https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp exposes tools for working with projects, files, findings, and exports, and the REST API accepts the same routes the site uses. Every connection sees only what your account can open, and you can disconnect an assistant or revoke a key at any time from Connectors.

Connect an assistant

You sign in to Groundbook once and click Allow. After that the assistant can read and update your projects, and only yours, until you disconnect it.

Microsoft Copilot

Set up in Copilot Studio, where Microsoft 365 agents are built.

In Copilot Studio, open your agent, click + next to Tools, choose Add → Model Context Protocol, and paste https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp.
For authentication choose OAuth 2.0 → Dynamic (with discovery). Copilot registers itself; there is nothing to copy.
Sign in, click Allow, add the tool, and save the agent.

Claude

Listed in the Claude connector directory.

Open Groundbook in the Claude directory and click Connect. Or, in Claude, open Customize → Connectors, search for Groundbook, and connect it.
Sign in to Groundbook if asked and click Allow.
Upload your drawings and start a check in Groundbook.
Paste this into a new Claude chat to go through the results: Show me the issues Groundbook found on my latest project, most severe first, each with its link, and help me go through them. If its check is still running, tell me how far along it is. If I have no project yet, give me the link to upload my drawings and start a check in Groundbook.

ChatGPT

Review construction drawings and start your first project from ChatGPT.

Open Groundbook in ChatGPT and click Install plugin.
Create a Groundbook account, or sign in to your existing account, then click Allow.
Start a new ChatGPT chat, select @Groundbook, and paste: Use Groundbook. In a few lines, tell me what it can do for me, with a link to each: plan review, shop drawing and submittal review, quantity takeoff, Recheck, Smart Overlay, and site plans. Then give me the link to start my first project.
Upload your drawings on the project page ChatGPT links to, then start the check there. Come back to ChatGPT to go through the findings.

Gemini

Works in Gemini Spark on a personal Google account in the US with Google AI Pro or Ultra.

Open Connected Apps in Gemini. Under Custom apps for Spark, paste https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp and click Next twice.
Accept Google’s notice, click Connect, then Agree and continue. Sign in to Groundbook, click Allow, then Connect.
Switch to Spark, type @Groundbook, and ask your question. Gemini asks before each change.

Gemini Enterprise

Runs as a Groundbook agent. The main chat does not call custom connectors yet.

An admin creates a client ID and secret (see the guide) and adds an MCP server with https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp under Connected apps in Gemini Enterprise settings.
Click New agent → Build manually. Name it Groundbook, tell it to use Groundbook for your projects, turn on Groundbook under Connectors, and click Create. You can upload our logo as its icon.
Open the agent, connect Groundbook, click Allow, and ask your question.

Grok

Grok runs tools without asking first. To keep it read-only, turn off the write tools on the connector.

Open grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, then Custom.
Name it Groundbook, paste https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp as the server URL, and click Add Connector. On Grok Business, an admin adds it first in console.x.ai.
Sign in to Groundbook if asked, click Allow, and ask your question in any chat.

Command line

The gb command runs every tool from a terminal. Create an API key in Connectors → API keys, sign in once, and get JSON back. Commands that delete something ask you to confirm; pass --yes in scripts. A read-only key cannot change anything.

For developers

REST API

Every route the website uses accepts an API key, so your own code can do anything the site can. Bodies are JSON, ids are UUIDs, and times are ISO 8601 in UTC. Send the key as a bearer token; a read-only key can call GET routes only, keys never carry admin powers, and you can revoke one at any time.

Assistants authenticate with OAuth 2.1 instead: authorization code with PKCE, rotating refresh tokens, and dynamic client registration, so there is no client id or secret to copy.

Projects, files, findings, and exports

What a connection can do

The same tools back the hosted MCP server, the local MCP server, and the command line. Each one is an action from the website, with the same permissions.

Projects

List projects and their status, open one project, create a draft, rename it, share it with a teammate or your organization.

Files and checks

Attach saved files, mark drawings and references, set the review checklist, add building codes, start a check, follow its progress.

Issues

List issues filtered by severity, status, discipline, assignee, or text. Open one with its impact, recommended fix, and the cited sheet text.

Teamwork

Change status or severity, add labels, comment, assign or unassign a teammate, record whether a finding was useful.

Exports

Build a PDF report, marked-up drawings, a Bluebeam FDF, or a CSV, then download it.

Questions

Ask plain-language questions about a project's drawings and get an answer with sheet references.

Questions

Does it cost extra?

No. Assistants, the command line, and the API are included with every account. Reviews are priced the same way as on the website, and questions to the project assistant use the project's chat allowance.

Can an assistant see projects I cannot?

No. A connection acts as your account. It sees the projects you own or were invited to, and nothing else. Nothing is visible in chat that is not visible on the site.

How do I disconnect?

Open Connectors on the website. Disconnecting an assistant ends every token it holds; revoking a key stops every script that used it.

Where do I find the tool list and the API routes?

The developer guide lists every tool with its access level, and the API reference lists each route with parameters and examples for curl and gb.

How do I use Groundbook in ChatGPT?

Open Groundbook in ChatGPT, install the plugin, and connect your account. New users can create an account during setup and ask for help starting a first project. Existing users connect the same account to find their projects and work through the findings.
