Everything you can do on the website, you can do from Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, the command line, or your own code. Each connection acts as your account, with exactly your permissions. Connecting an assistant takes about two minutes and needs no technical skills. The command line and API are for developers.

One MCP server and one REST API sit behind every surface. MCP is the standard assistants use to connect to tools. Our server at https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp exposes 26 tools, one for each action on the website, and the REST API accepts the same routes the site uses. Every connection sees only what your account can open, and you can disconnect an assistant or revoke a key at any time from Connectors.

Connect an assistant

You sign in to Groundbook once and click Allow. After that the assistant can read and update your projects, and only yours, until you disconnect it.

Claude

Listed in the Claude connector directory.

  1. Open Groundbook in the Claude directory and click Connect. Or, in Claude, open Settings → Connectors, search for Groundbook, and connect it.
  2. Sign in to Groundbook if asked and click Allow.
  3. Start a chat and ask: “What are the open high-severity issues on my latest project?”

ChatGPT

Add it by hand with developer mode until the directory listing is approved.

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create, name it Groundbook, paste https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp as the server URL, and choose OAuth.
  3. Sign in and click Allow. In a new chat, pick Groundbook from the tools menu and ask your question.

Microsoft Copilot

Set up in Copilot Studio, where Microsoft 365 agents are built.

  1. In Copilot Studio, open your agent, click + next to Tools, choose Add → Model Context Protocol, and paste https://app.groundbook.ai/api/mcp.
  2. For authentication choose OAuth 2.0 → Dynamic (with discovery). Copilot registers itself; there is nothing to copy.
  3. Sign in, click Allow, add the tool, and save the agent.

For developers

Command line

The gb command runs every tool from a terminal. Create an API key in Connectors → API keys, sign in once, and get JSON back. Commands that delete something ask you to confirm; pass --yes in scripts. A read-only key cannot change anything.

Coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor can run the same tools locally over stdio with gb mcp. Add this to your agent's MCP servers:

For developers

REST API

Every route the website uses accepts an API key, so your own code can do anything the site can. Bodies are JSON, ids are UUIDs, and times are ISO 8601 in UTC. Send the key as a bearer token; a read-only key can call GET routes only, keys never carry admin powers, and you can revoke one at any time.

Assistants authenticate with OAuth 2.1 instead: authorization code with PKCE, rotating refresh tokens, and dynamic client registration, so there is no client id or secret to copy.

What a connection can do

The same tools back the hosted MCP server, the local MCP server, and the command line. Each one is an action from the website, with the same permissions.

Projects

List projects and their status, open one project, create a draft, rename it, share it with a teammate or your organization.

Files and checks

Attach saved files, mark drawings and references, set the review checklist, add building codes, start a check, follow its progress.

Issues

List issues filtered by severity, status, discipline, assignee, or text. Open one with its impact, recommended fix, and the cited sheet text.

Teamwork

Change status or severity, add labels, comment, assign or unassign a teammate, record whether a finding was useful.

Exports

Build a PDF report, marked-up drawings, a Bluebeam FDF, or a CSV, then download it.

Questions

Ask plain-language questions about a project's drawings and get an answer with sheet references.

Questions

Does it cost extra?

No. Assistants, the command line, and the API are included with every account. Reviews are priced the same way as on the website, and questions to the project assistant use the project's chat allowance.

Can an assistant see projects I cannot?

No. A connection acts as your account. It sees the projects you own or were invited to, and nothing else. Nothing is visible in chat that is not visible on the site.

How do I disconnect?

Open Connectors on the website. Disconnecting an assistant ends every token it holds; revoking a key stops every script that used it.

Where do I find the tool list and the API routes?

The developer guide lists every tool with its access level, and the API reference lists each route with parameters and examples for curl and gb.

Is the ChatGPT listing live?

It is under review in the ChatGPT app directory. Until it is approved, add Groundbook by hand with developer mode as described above. The Claude listing is live, and Microsoft Copilot connects through Copilot Studio today.
